All new building designs will now require refuge call stations for disabled persons to call for assistance during a building evacuation. Systems, are addressable, using both type A or Type B call stations, and fully comply with BS5839-Part 9. A fully wire free system is available which is a perfect solution when the system has to be retro fitted. Surveys are conducted free of charge.
A door retainer is a device designed to hold open fire doors in a safe and controlled manner. Fire doors are essential components in the passive fire protection of a building, designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke between different compartments. However, keeping fire doors closed at all times can be impractical and inconvenient, especially in high-traffic areas. This is where door retainers come into play, offering a solution that combines safety with accessibility.
Door retainers are interfaced with the fire alarm system so upon a fire activation the fire doors will close and keep the fire spread under control.
Multiple types of door retainer can be fitted depending on the type and location of the doors, from wall mounted to swing free overhead types and a full wire free system can also be installed which negates the need for a full wiring installation and offers a quick and unobtrusive installation.
Door retainers will be tested as part of the fire system planned maintenance schedule.
‘All public buildings and workplaces now require emergency lighting to be installed to enable safe evacuation in the event of a mains and lighting failure, especially if this also coincides with other events such as a fire alarm evacuation.
While ARC Fire Safety & Security does not normally get involved in the design and installation of emergency lighting, we do carry out the annual three hour duration test, usually as part of a fire alarm planned maintenance attendance. This is based on there being suitable emergency lighting test facilities available, so normal lighting does not have to be affected.
A certificate of testing will be supplied with all fittings listed and any faults or defects will be reported to the customer so their Electrician can carry out repairs.’
Following issues with our previous service provider, ARC took over the management of the Cathedral estates’ Intruder, Fire and CCTV systems.
