Remit

The new owner was refurbishing a building into a large care home. The remit for the fire safety aspect of the project was for a fire alarm, nurse call system and sprinkler system throughout the whole property. The client had a time constraint for the installation, and therefore ARC Fire Safety recommended radio fire alarm and nurse call systems to reduce the overall installation period.

Action

The ARC Fire Safety Guernsey Technical Manager, Steve Bonsall spent a period of consultation with the owner and the various authorities involved in the project before submitting a final design for all the required systems. The designs were passed, and ARC Fire Safety then integrated with the project installation team to install and commission the Electro Detectors radio fire alarm, the radio nurse call system and the sprinkler system. All systems were completed within the project schedule, and full documentation including commissioning test results, certification, drawings and O& M manuals were presented to the client.

Result

The radio fire and nurse call systems drastically reduced the installation timeframe on site, and also resulted in less containment for the electricians to install as no cable for these systems was needed. The client was delighted with the installation, and now benefits from a one stop solution for all his fire safety planned maintenance.
